The Coastland | DCCM team includes more than 75 employees, including Registered Civil Engineers, Engineers with EIT certificates, Engineering technicians, Certified Building Officials, Certified Building Plans Examiners, Certified Building Inspectors, Certified Building Permit Technicians, LEED Accredited Professionals, Certified Access Specialists, Public Works Inspectors, Resident Engineers, Construction Managers and Inspectors and administrative staff. Working together in our collaborative environment, our team generates innovative ideas and deliver outstanding client services, forging lasting partnerships with our clients and bringing projects to success.
CEO
Travis Williams, PE
Travis Williams joined Coastland | DCCM in 2014, bringing his extensive background in civil engineering and infrastructure.
A native of Alaska, Travis earned his BS in Civil Engineering from UC Davis and gained early career experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects across Alaska and California.
At Coastland | DCCM, Travis spearheaded the establishment of the Construction Management and Inspection division in Auburn, CA. Over the past 11 years, he has built a strong team of professionals, fostered loyal client relationships, and led many of the company’s largest projects. Rising through the ranks, Travis became part owner in 2016, was named COO and later President, and has now officially stepped into the role of CEO.
John Wanger, PE
John Wanger founded Coastland | DCCM Civil Engineering on September 1, 1991, with a vision to provide exceptional engineering services to governmental public works projects. Under his leadership, the company expanded from a two-person team to a 55-person operation within its first 15 years. Coastland | DCCM added Construction Management and Inspection Services in 1994, Building Safety services in 1997, and opened its first branch office in Auburn, CA, in 2005.
Over the past 30+ years, John’s leadership has been instrumental in building a company that stands as a trusted partner in civil engineering and public infrastructure. His vision and drive have paved the way for a seamless leadership transition.
Erik Strom
Erik has dedicated his career to accounting and finance for over 28 years. As Chief Financial Officer, he manages all financial and accounting activities and assists in making economic decisions about the company’s future. His responsibilities include assisting project managers in budget preparation and analysis, managing accounting records, producing financial and tax reports, formulating corporate budgets and being involved in all other financial aspects of the company. He has extensive experience in financial analysis and reporting and is very knowledgeable of all the tax laws and corporate business regulations that affect the company.
Paul W. Wade, PE
As Chief Operating Officer, Paul directs all tactical decisions at the company. He has over 28 years of experience providing a broad range of professional engineering services to Northern California municipalities. With an in-depth understanding of the important issues facing public agencies, Paul offers his familiarity with municipal engineering, development review, the Subdivision Map Act, State public contract laws, CEQA, and State and Federal regulatory agencies to the cities and towns he has served. As project manager he has been involved in the design and construction of such diverse projects as community parks; road improvements; drainage, water and wastewater facilities; and public buildings.
Dane Schilling, PE
Dane oversees all operations at Coastland | DCCM’s office in Auburn. He has focused his career on design and construction of public works projects for over 28 years. He also has extensive experience in development review, construction management, project administration, and consultant/client management. As contract City Engineer, his duties have included CIP management, plan/map check, development review, jurisdictional coordination, council presentations and public involvement.
Salvatore A. Lucido, PE
Sal leads Coastland | DCCM’s Building Division and oversees the firm’s building plan check and inspection services. He has more than 24 years of experience providing plan review, project management, administration, and on-site engineering support to dozens of municipalities and private sector clients throughout Northern California.
Mike Janet
Mike oversees the company’s construction management department. He has over 21 years of experience as a construction manager, project manager and project engineer on a number of capital improvement projects. His experience includes schedule review, field problem resolution, bid solicitation and general contract administration. He has strong skills in managing diverse projects and coordinating with all project stakeholders. Mike has managed the construction of more than 50 roadway and utility improvement projects for public agencies, including many federally funded projects requiring close coordination with Caltrans.
Heidi Utterback, PE
As manager of Coastland | DCCM’s civil design group, Heidi is responsible for project management, design, client coordination and project budgets. She has over 29 years of experience designing and managing public works projects. Her design experience includes roadway overlay and reconstruction projects, sidewalk and ADA ramp improvements, storm drain systems, grading plans, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and all associated calculations. Heidi’s background also includes plan check and assessment district engineering. She has managed numerous projects requiring close coordination with Caltrans, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, Corps of Engineers, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Boating and Waterways and the FAA.
